Oregon soldier one of six killed by IED blast in Iraq
 
Specialist Zachary W. McBride, 20, of Bend, Ore. was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division based in Vilseck, Germany. He and five other soldiers from his unit were struck by the blast from an IED in Sinsil, Iraq while conducting a house-to-house assessment mission on January 9, 2008 at 12:35 p.m.

The five other soldiers are listed below:

Staff Sgt. Jonathan K. Dozier, 30, of Rutherford, Tennessee;
Staff Sgt. Sean M Gaul, 29, of Reno, Nevada;
Sgt. Christopher A. Sanders, 22, of Roswell, New Mexico;
Specialist Todd E Davis, 22, of Raymore, Missouri;
All four were assigned to the unit listed above.

The remaining soldier is Sgt. First Class Matthew I. Pionk, 30, of Superior, Wisconsin who was assigned to Headquarters 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division also based in Vilseck, Germany.

Details of the services for Specialist McBride are under discussion and details will be released when finalized.
