224 Engineers, Oregon Army National Guard returning to Albany Saturday, 7 June 2008
The soldiers from the 224 Engineer Company, Oregon are scheduled to depart Ft. Hood Texas tomorrow with a arrival time at the Mahlon Sweet Airport in Eugene, Ore at approximately 2:40 p.m.

From the airport they will be bused to the Albany Armory on the following route: Hwy 99 to Albany, where they will head east on Hwy 20 then Turning on Timber Street and offloading at the Timber-Linn Memorial Park.

Families and friends will gather on the Grand Prairie overpass that crosses Interstate 5 to greet the soldiers and try to get a glimpse of their loved ones for the first time in nearly a year.

A picnic has been planned at the Timber-Linn Memorial park to welcome home these soldiers. Food, preparation and clean-up is being donated by Citizens Bank, Ciddici's Pizza, Ray's Food Place, Wyatt's, Art Plus Signs, Van Vleet Meats, Franz Bakery and Reser's Foods.

Harley-Davidson riders, who will escort the soldiers home from Eugene, are providing the condiments. All motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome to join in the escort ride. Among the motorcycle groups escorting the soldiers will be the Pioneer Chapter of the Patriot Guard Riders, the United Freedom Riders, Oregon Veterans Motorcycle Association,, Harley Owners Groups, Hub City Abate, Salem Bikers and other groups from all walks of life.

Family, friends and supporters are welcome along the return route. All media is also encouraged to witness the homecoming and welcome from the citizens of Oregon.
