Members of the Media are invited to attend the 34th Annual Camp Rosenbaum VIG Day
Members of the media are invited to share in the joy and excitement of Camp Rosenbaum during the 34th Annual Visitor's Day on Wed., July 23, from 9:30 a.m – 2:00 p.m. in Warrenton, Ore.

This is an incredible opportunity to interact with more than 160 underprivileged kids (ages 9-11) from eight different public housing authorities in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Camp Rosenbaum—which is a unique camp sponsored by the Oregon National Guard, several housing authorities in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and numerous Public Safety departments in Oregon—has been serving children since the early 1970s and is held each year at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Ore.

The camp offers low-income, high risk children opportunities to learn good citizenship skills, build self-esteem, receive anti-drug messages and most importantly, meet and befriend people who become good role models and mentors in their lives.

Thousands of children, since the camp's beginning, have benefited from Camp Rosenbaum.

If you are interested in attending Visitor's Day, military air transportation (round trip) will be available at approximately 8:30 a.m. from Portland to Astoria via a UH-47, Chinook Helicopter from the Army Aviation Support Facility #2 based in Pendleton. From there, you will board a bus for a quick 10-minute ride to Camp Rilea, where Camp Rosenbaum is held. You can expect to be back in Portland at approximately 3:00 p.m. Please note however, there are limited seats on the aircraft so please register as soon as posFrostedith Kay Fristad at the Oregon Military Department, Public Affairs Office 503-584-3917 or kay.f.fristad@mil.state.or.us.

If you prefer to drive yourself, information on the address and time to arrive will be forwarded to you.
