Oregon National Guard to commemorate African American Heritage Month
 
Salem, Ore. – The Oregon National Guard Diversity Council will hold a commemorative ceremony observing African American Heritage Month, at 11:30 a.m. on February 26, 2009 at the Oregon Military Department in Salem, Ore.

Mr. Ronnie Brooks, NAACP Executive Board Member of the Salem, Oregon Chapter, will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Brooks is also the Aspire Coordinator at McKay High and Head Pastor of To God Be the Glory Church in Salem.

Portland, Oregon native, and Retired Master Sgt. Earl Henry Winchester, who is the first African American Oregon Guard member will also be honored at the ceremony.

DeShun Harris, Chris Fridge and Lee Richards of "Seed of Faith Ministries" will also perform at the event.

The event's theme is "The Quest for Black Citizenship in the Americas".
