Oregon National Guard, Oregon Symphony partner for free concert in Portland
 
The Oregon Symphony and the Oregon Army National Guard's 2-218th Field Artillery will partner during a free outdoor concert on Thursday, Sept 3, 2009, at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, Ore.

The Oregon Symphony will perform Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," with support from members of the 2-218th Field Artillery. Waterfront Park is located at: 1020 Naito Pkwy in Portland, Oregon.

Attendees may bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating. Concert-goers are also invited to bring school supplies to donate for use in Portland public schools. Volunteers from the Portland non-profit group, Schoolhouse Supplies, will be on hand with collection barrels to receive the donations.

5 PM - Portland Youth Philharmonic
7 PM - Oregon Symphony

The Oregon Symphoney holds free annual concerts at parks throughout the Portland Metro area. The series is supported by the City of Portland and the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
