Oregon Air National Guard and Idaho Air National Guard to fly over BSU vs.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore./Boise Ida. - The Boise State Broncos and the University of Oregon
Ducks will play the first game of the college football season and the opening
flyover will be provided by aircraft from each state.

Two F-15 Eagles from the 114th Fighter Squadron, part of the Oregon Air
National Guard and two A-10 Warthogs from the Idaho Air National Guard's
190th Fighter Squadron will perform the fly-over just prior to kick-off at
8:15 p.m. MDT/7:15 p.m. PDT.

The flyover represents the collective efforts of both the units because the
114FS has been working out of Gowen Field since April. The 114FS had to
find a new place to train F-15 pilots while the runway at the Klamath Falls
Airport in Klamath Falls, Oregon is being renovated.

"This has been a great experience for our wing and we are in debt to Gowen
Field and the people of Boise for their hospitality," said Colonel James
Miller, 173d Fighter Wing commander. "With that said, the F-15 has an
outstanding combat record and likewise, the Oregon Ducks have a great
fighting spirit, go Ducks!"

The 190th Fighter Squadron's higher headquarters is the 124th Wing, and its
Commander, Col. J.R. Compton is a BSU graduate. "It's been great hosting the
Oregon Air National Guard here at Gowen Field this summer," said Compton. "We
are working together to train like we'd fight in combat, but there's also a
healthy competitive spirit and we know who we'd like to see come out on top
Thursday night - go Broncos!"

More than 230 people from Kingsley Field are currently living and working in
Boise. The National Guard Bureau has funded the temporary move of flying and
maintenance operations to Boise, which should inject some $5 million into the
Boise-area's economy.
