ORNG to honor Governor Kulongoski with Order of the Minuteman during kickoff of Senior Enlisted Conf
SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon National Guard will honor Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski with an Order of The Minuteman Award, during a ceremony at the Oregon Convention Center, in Portland, Ore., at 7:00 p.m., May 14.

The Governor is being recognized for his support of the Oregon National Guard, military families and spouses, and Oregon's National Guard veterans over the course of his tenure as the Governor of Oregon.

Kulongoski has served as the longest-sitting wartime governor in the state.

The Order of the Minuteman is a state-level award which was developed in 1985, to provide ceremonial recognition to honor leadership within the Oregon National Guard, who have distinguished themselves by their actions.

The ceremony kicks off the Oregon National Guard's Senior Enlisted Conference at the convention center, May 15-16. The conference gives senior Non-Commissioned Officers throughout the Oregon Army and Air National Guard a chance to network, collaborate, and share ideas, as well as develop a strategic plan for the enlisted force structure.

The Oregon National Guard is comprised of over 8,000 citizen-Soldiers and citizen-Airmen.
