Education program to benefit children of deployed Oregon National Guard members
The Oregon National Guard will team up with the Military Child Education Coalition to host a free training session in Vale, Ore., Nov. 2-3.

The program, Living in a New Normal (LINN), is designed to train school guidance professionals, educators, and community members on skills to identify and address any issues facing children dealing with trauma, grief, and loss due to separation from a loved one.

"This program is especially well-timed for families and children of Soldiers with the 3-116 Cavalry," said Michelle Kochosky, Family Program Director for the Oregon National Guard.

"Those Soldiers are just beginning their deployment and time away from home and any tools we can provide for parents and teachers in Eastern Oregon are essential to helping their kids cope," she said.

Educators in the area are encouraged to attend the workshop, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days.

The program will be held at: Education Service District-Region 14, Leggitt Room, 363 A Street West, Vale, Ore. 97918

The course is free with breakfast and lunch provided both days for all registered attendees. The registration deadline is Oct. 29.
