PHOTO RELEASE: Oregon Air Guard celebrates 70 years of protecting the Pacific Northwest Skies

Gile, a crew chief with the 142nd Fighter Wing, Oregon Air National Guard, is the newest member of the unit, while Klein is one of the original members of the 123rd Observation Squadron, which preceded the 142nd Fighter Wing. Klein is the oldest surviving Oregon citizen-Airman. The ceremony also included the unveiling of Boeing's new AESA Radar System for Oregon's F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft. More than 300 Airmen, Soldiers, friends, family, community members and supporters attended the Oregon Air National Guard's 70th Anniversary celebration at the Portland Air National Guard Base, in Portland, Ore., April 15. The event honored the seven surviving members of the 123rd Observation Squadron, the predecessor of the Oregon Air National Guard, and all Oregon Airmen who have served since the unit's inception in 1941.
