Oregon National Guard Soldier supporting Operation New Dawn dies in non-combat related incident
Specialist Andrew E. Lara, 25, of Albany, Ore. died of a non-combat related incident, while supporting Operation New Dawn.
He was assigned to Fox Company, 145th Brigade Support Battalion attached to 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment.
Details of the death are currently under investigation.
The family expressed appreciation for the initial support provided, but has asked for the Oregon community to honor their privacy as they grieve.
The family further requested all media inquiries be addressed to the Oregon Military Department, Public Affairs Office. 
Spec. Lara  was born on Dec, 7,1985 in Albany, Ore. to Ramiro and Lynn Lara.  He was a graduate of South Albany High School. 
Lara enlisted in the Oregon National Guard in June 2009 to better himself and  to serve his country.  Upon his return from basic training he reported for duty in Woodburn.
Spec. Lara is survived by his daughter, Kay Lynn, 18 months, parents, Ramiro and Lynn Lara of Albany, Ore., and  brother, Joshua.
In his civilian life, Lara built log homes.  An avid sportsman he was involved in baseball, wrestling, football and most outdoor activities.  He also had a love of music. 
Spec. Lara had spoken with his family a few days ago and was looking forward to returning home for his leave period which was scheduled to begin in early May.
Services have currently not been scheduled. 
The information will be released when the details have been completed.
