Update: Oregon Army National Guard UAV Platoon mobilizes in support of Operation New Dawn in Iraq
A mobilization ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday June 2, 2011 at the Army Aviation Support Facility #2, in Pendleton, Ore., for Detachment 1, Bravo Company, 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
Approximately 20 Citizen-Soldiers from throughout the state will deploy under the authority of 1st Lt.Richard Haeys and Staff Sgt. Michael O'Rielly to support Operation New Dawn in Iraq.
The UAV platoon will provide real time, critical battlefield intelligence information to the area ground force commanders.
The Honorable Kate Brown, Secretary of State Oregon and Major General Raymond F. Rees, Adjutant General, Oregon, are scheduled to attend.
There are currently more than 1,100 Citizen Soldiers and Airmen mobilized throughout the world supporting federal missions.
Family, friends, media and supporters are invited to attend to wish them well.
