PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST 2
(OUTREACH DEVELOPMENT ANALYST)

$3,904 - $5,704 MONTHLY


This employment opportunity is with the Oregon Health Authority/Office of Private Health Partnerships (OPHP). This position is not represented by a union.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
Employment will be contingent upon the passing of a fingerprint-based criminal background check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically disqualify an individual from being considered for employment.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES — Highlights
  • Collect information (including statistical information) and/or public opinion from a variety of sources on Healthy Kids and other agency programs to guide agency’s outreach and marketing strategy development.
  • Conduct surveys or polls to discover information needs or reactions to Healthy Kids and/or other agency programs.
  • Develop and plan (in conjunction with management and marketing staff) outreach and marketing strategies and campaigns to stimulate public awareness, understanding and support for Healthy Kids program, polices and procedures, as well as other agency programs.
  • Develop and produce audio and visual presentations, publications, and audiovisual materials to explain or promote Healthy Kids goals, programs, and policies, as well as other agency programs.
  • Train or present information at training sessions given by the agency.
  • Present information to promote Healthy Kids and other agency programs at public meetings.
  • Write special feature articles. Write responses for manager’s or administrator’s signature.
  • Develop articles for agency websites.
  • Design, write, edit and produce internal or external publications explaining or promoting agency programs and policies.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree AND two years professional level experience in Public Relations or Affairs.
 
OR;
 
Five years experience directly related to the position under recruitment; two of the five years must have been at the professional level.

  • Explain how you have used outreach and marketing principles and strategies to achieve the goals of a company or organization for which you have worked.
  •  Describe your experience and role in developing outreach and/or marketing campaigns.
  • Describe your experience in developing, writing and editing high-quality communication pieces.
 
Preference may be given to candidates with insurance knowledge. If you have insurance knowledge, please explain in your cover letter how you gained this knowledge. You may include an additional page to explain these experiences.
