U.S. 101 just south of Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport.
Trail: Beach access. Short trail leads from the parking area to miles of beach.
 
Features: Parking area includes hitching posts, portable toilet.

Pistol River State Scenic Viewpoint
US 101, 11 miles south of Gold Beach
Trail: Approximately 2 miles of beach access.

Banks-Vernonia State Trail

 Equestrians and bicyclists share the Banks-Vernonia State Trail
OR 47, Banks to Vernonia
Trail: 21-mile trail that follows an abandoned railbed between Banks and Vernonia.
 
Special Features: Gentle grade, both paved and unpaved portions. 6 miles of trail between Tophill Trailhead and Buxton Trailhead is unpaved. The Tophill Trailhead and Buxton Trailhead have ADA accessible equestrian loading platforms, hitching posts, parking and restrooms. Milo McIver State Park
Springwater Road, 4 miles west of Estacada
Trails: 7-miles of multi-use trails.
 
Features: Trailhead in the southern day-use area. Hitching posts, one large corral and an ADA-accessible ramp. Drinking water available year-round. For more information, please see the Milo McIver Campground brochure (474KB pdf).

Tryon Creek State Natural Area
Off I-5, Terwilliger Blvd., SW Portland
Trails: 2.1-mile North Horse Loop and 3.1-mile West Horse Loop. The .35-mile Boones Ferry Trail and the .47-mile Englewood Trail are spur trails that lead out of the park.
 
Features: Packed gravel trail surface supports horse traffic in wet weather. Horseback riders must stay on horse trails and ride single file. Water is available during the summer. For more information, see the Tryon Creek Trail Guide (510KB pdf).
 
Other Info: The equestrian parking lot is at the main entrance to the park and includes the North Horse Loop trailhead.Groups of four or more trailers, please call ahead for parking arrangements, (503) 636-9886.

Elijah Bristow State Park

 Elijah Bristow State Park
OR 58, 16 mi. southeast of Eugene
Trails: 12 miles of multi-use trails.
 
Features: A large equestrian staging area includes horse trailer parking, corrals, hitching posts, picnic shelter, tables, water, electricity and toilets. For more information, see the Southern Willamette Valley Parks guide (278KB pdf)

Deschutes State Recreation Area
Off OR 206, 15 miles east of The Dalles. Eastbound on I-84, take Exit 97. Westbound, use Exit 104 at Biggs Junction. Follow the signs on Oregon 206 to reach the park.
Trail: 22-mile round trip Railbed Trail runs along the Deschutes River canyon. Horseback riding is open to day use March 1- June 30, by advance reservation only. 10 horses per day are allowed on the trail.
 
Other Info: Please stay on the trail, and do not water horses at the river’s edge. Trailhead parking is at the park entrance. Please remove horse manure from the parking lot immediately. For additional information, see the Deschutes State Recreation Area Trail Guide (500KB pdf).
 
Reservations:  Call 1-800-452-5687 for reservations. Reserve one date per call, $6 nonrefundable reservation fee. A confirmation letter from the reservation office will be mailed to you. The confirmation letters must be stamped at the park upon arrival, and must be kept on your vehicle dash in clear view while you are on the trail.
 

Smith Rock State Park
 
Off US 97, 9 miles northeast of Redmond
Trails: Several miles of multi-use trails throughout the park. Access to trails in the Crooked River National Grasslands.
 
Features: Trailer parking at the Rim Trail and Memorial Viewpoint parking area. See the Smith Rock Trail Guide (570KB pdf) for trail locations.

OC&E Woods Line State Trail
OR 39, Klamath Falls
Trail: 100-mile trail built on an old railbed.
 
Features: 54-mile (Main Line) segment from Klamath Falls to Bly suitable for horseback riding. Good equestrian access within this section located at the Switchbacks Trailhead. Other access points located at Highway 39, Sycan Siding and Bly trailheads. The Woods Line is a 35-mile spur offering improved equestrian access at the Horse Glade Trailhead. Other Info: Please travel single file and use the wood chip trail where possible. After crossing Oregon 39, the trail enters farm and ranch lands. Please close all gates as you pass.

Hat Rock State Park
U.S. 730, 9 miles east of Umatilla on Columbia River’s Lake Wallula behind McNary Dam.
Trail: A 1-mile portion of the 10-mile Lewis and Clark Commemorative Trail winds through the park.
 
Features: Hitching posts, water trough, restroom.
 
Other Info: Primary trailhead is at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Warehouse Beach Recreation Area. Please call the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation information number, (541) 922-2268, for trailhead information.
