The Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission approved the final draft plan with the addendum listed below, at their September 17, 2009, meeting.

What Are the Next Steps?
The plan will be going through state rulemaking amendment and local land-use approval processess this summer. 
 
A Rulemaking Hearing is scheduled for:
July 20, 6:00 p.m.
Prairie City Grange Hall

Prairie City, OR
 
 
A Grant County Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for:
August 19, 7:00 p.m.
Canyon City Courthouse
Canyon City, OR
 
The department is seeking land-use approval through a conditional-use permit for the concepts in the plan.
 
The park is scheduled to officially open in late summer or early fall, 2011. 
 
A portion of the campground, day use area, and some trails are expected to be completed for the park opening.
