Post Conference Information and Summary
On behalf of staff at Crown Point State Scenic Cooridor, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Volunteer Services Section and Friends of Vista House, we would like to thank you for attending the 2009 Cooperative Association Conference. The conference boasted registrations from 27 OPRD staff members and 39 Cooperative Association members. Out of the total registrations, 31 were First Timers at this bi annual conference event. In addition to registered participants who also volunteered, the conference was supported by the efforts of 14 other volunteers.
The educational mission of the conference was carried out by a team of 26 speakers from various professional venues. For more information on the speakers, please visit the speakers page on this website.
Friends of Vista House in partnership with Crown Point State Scenic Cooridor hosted a memorable evening reception at the park. Conference participants were welcomed by Oreogon's Crown Jewel - Vista House and enjoyed great food, fun and interpretation.
The 2008-09 L.L. "Stub" Stewart Award luncheon was held on Saturday where nine award nominees were recognized in four award categories: Life Service, Rising Star, Inspiration and Leadership. Full and half day tours of the scenice Historic Columbia River Highway helped participants appreciate the beauty and history of the historic highway. Thank you to the Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway for sponsoring these excursions.
Saturday evening ended on a rythmic note as participants enjoyed the magic of interpretation with Ilan Shamir as he enchanted many with his interactive storytelling and drumming. Ilan is President of Your True Nature, Inc. and author of many books and CDs.
Thank you again for helping make the 2009 Conference such a great experience! We look forward to seeing everyone in 2011.
