Call for Award Nominations for the 2003 Outstanding Host and 2003 Junior Ranger Programs!

The OPRD Volunteer Program announces a call for nominations for excellent service and performance in two volunteer categories this winter. All nominations must be received at the OPRD Salem Headquarters no later than January 30, 2004.

The 2003 Gen Angdahl Outstanding Host Award

The Gen Angdahl Memorial Awards began in 1997 to commemorate and recognize outstanding hosts and the ongoing contributions they make each day to our state parks.

It is with a strong sense of thanks, pride, and accomplishment that we remember Gen through these annual Outstanding Host Awards, which bear her name. Angdahl award recipients will be determined via a judging committee focusing on nominees´ contributions in the areas of service, dedication, integrity, initiative, and enthusiasm.

To be eligible, hosts need to have served at least six months in OPRD sites during the previous three years.

The 2003 Junior Ranger Awards

The Personal Excellence Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated innovation, creativity, and enthusiasm for the Junior Ranger program. Anyone working with any state park Junior Ranger program is eligible.

The Program Excellence Award is given to a park that has demonstrated consistency in numbers of participant levels, types, and varieties of activities, and in maintaining a high-quality program.

The program is innovative, and meets the needs of all types of learning styles. Any state park that is currently conducting a Junior Ranger program is eligible.
