Below is a summary of Board office activities since our last meeting on September 10, 2003. The office building will be closed from noon December 24 until Monday, January 5, 2004. I will not be in the office during this time, but will be checking voice messages over this period and will work from home some of these days. I hope to come in at least once to check on mail, etc.

| Meetings |
|
- With Board Chair: October 23, 2003, at the Board office with extensive list of items to discuss; numerous phone conversations, and emails as necessary to carry out work of the Board.
- SIBA Meetings: September 30, 2003, at Appraiser Board: DAS Risk Management present to explain costs increases; October 9, 2003: Subcommittee to develop mission and motto for SIBA group; November 19, 2003, at OSBGE: lobbyist present to discuss procedures.
- Compliance: October 10, 2003: met with Compliance Chair Hester to review cases; October 22, 2003: Conference call with AAG & Webb; November 21, 2003: Conference call with AAG & Webb.
- Other: September 15, 2003: met with Orr to select exam questions for OR-Geology exam; September 19, 2003: meeting with Jon Sprecher, RG; September 23, 2003, PEBB meeting at Employment Dept. Auditorium; September 26, 2003: Database builder; October 7, 2003: Database builder; October 13, 2003: Rules Training at Labor & Industry Building; October 16, 2003 & October 17, 2003: Auditors present; October 20, 2003: met with Orr to discuss ASBOG meeting, etc.; October 28, 2003 to November 3, 2003: to Florida for ASBOG; November 4, 2003: IRS & Social Security training in Portland at the Bonneville Federal Building; November 10, 2003: presentation at OSU with Bill Orr to Geoscience students; November 12, 2003: met with Database builder; November 19, 2003: with Bill Orr to discuss applicant transcripts, compliance, etc.; November 20, 2003: COE for CEG in Lake Oswego with Michael, Peterson and Ken Neal from the Washington Board; November 26, 2003: Marion County Planning Hearing; December 8, 2003: PERS training for new electronic procedures.

|
Renewals issued for September 30, 2004:24 (1 non- renewed is 4%); sent out for October 31, 2004: 442 (36 non-renewed is 8%); sent out for November 30, 2004: 58 (12 non-renewed is 21%); sent out for December 31, 2004: 154 (returns in process).

| Examinations |
|
October 3, 2003: Exams held at Chemeketa Community College (CCC); Orr proctored ASBOG; Peterson proctored CEG exam.
- ASBOG: Results for October 3, 2003, test were received on December 2, 2003, and issued December 4, 2003; 15/25 passed the fundamental section (60%); 14/17 passed the practice for an 82% pass rate.
- OR-Specific Exam: October 3, 2003: Oregon Exam at CCC, 10 candidates, all passed; December 5, 2003: Knight proctored seven candidates.
- CEG Exam: Three candidates sat for the October 3, 2003, exam; two passed, one failed. Results issued November 21, 2003.

Chair Michael completed my annual review. Due to state wage freeze, no raise was granted.

| Communication |
|
- Newsletter: The October 2003 newsletter was issued. The lead article on compliance precipitated numerous responses; next newsletter will be issued in January. Please submit any articles for publication.
- Website: Jane Feinberg, RG, CEG, continues to keep the website updated.
- Email: Continues to be a primary source of communication.

| Building Update |
|
I am no longer actively involved in any building pursuit. At such time as legislation is passed, this Board can determine future plans.
