Transfer/Promotion Opportunity for current Board of Nursing employees only. This full time permanent position, in the Investigations Department, monitors licensees through the period of probation as ordered by the Board. This position is represented by SEIU/OPEU.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Advises licensee regarding probationary requirements
- Evaluates and monitors compliance and makes progress reports to the Board
- Investigates complaints on and non-compliance of probationary licensees. Gathers and analyzes data; takes appropriate actions to negate risks to the public
- Prepares disciplinary actions for licensees who fail to complete the Nurse Monitoring Program and follows through with discipline as directed by the Board
- Maintains accurate database and paper files for each probationary case and uses electronic tools for case management
- Assists investigators with investigations and interviews
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work occurs in a typical office environment. Work often has deadlines and conflicting priorities which requires flexibility in hours or may occasionally require overtime. Heavy telephone work and computer use requires sitting for the majority of the day. Nature of work is subject to interruptions, dealing with people from diverse backgrounds, and dealing with people who may be hostile or angry over the telephone or in person. Good daily communication with internal and external contacts is required.
TO QUALIFY
Your PD100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the qualifications stated in this section. To receive credit, your application form must clearly show that you have:
- Two years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations. (College-level course work may substitute for the experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience). A Bachelor’s Degree and healthcare experience is preferred.
- Effective case management skills and the ability to handle difficult people or situations over the phone and in person.
- Agency employees are subject to successfully passing a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, based on the requirements of assigned duties.
- Applicants are subject to both a Computerized Criminal History and Driver and Motor Vehicle Services check as well as a thorough background investigation that requires fingerprinting. Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.
