Marine Board Meets in Salem September 19
 
Immediate Release
 
The Oregon State Marine Board will discuss a request from Oregon ocean charter vessels to allow satellite telephone communications in lieu of single sideband radio on charter boats operating beyond 20 miles offshore.  This and other agenda items will be considered at the September 19 meeting in Salem.
 
The Board will also consider a proposal to adopt an electric motor only rule on Elk Lake in Marion County.  The Board will also decide whether or not to update administrative rules for the Marine Facilities Program in order to more effectively benefit boaters.            
The meeting will be held at the Department of Forestry, Building C, in Salem.  The meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Agenda items include the following:
  • Director’s Report
  • Report on Performance Measures
  • Planning Report
  • Final Consideration of Rulemaking –Marine Facility Program
  • Discussion of Rulemaking –Boat Operations in Marion County, Elk Lake
  • Final Consideration of Rulemaking –Boat Operations in Multnomah County, McCormick & Baxter Superfund Site
  • Initial Consideration of Rulemaking Revisions –Ocean Charter Vessels
  • Law Enforcement Program Report
  • Initial Consideration of Rulemaking Revisions –Mandatory Education Program, Internet Course Providers
  • Education / Information Program Report
  • Facility Program Report.
