Pier 99 Earns Clean Marina Honor

For Immediate Release
Pier 99
The Oregon State Marine Board recently certified Pier 99 as an Oregon Clean Marina for adopting environmentally sound best management practices. These include recycling containers, signs throughout the marina, keeping well-maintained grassy areas between the gravel parking lot and the Columbia River, distributing oil spill kits to all of the slip holders and creating an emergency preparedness plan, to name a few.

The Clean Marina program recognizes facilities by designating them as "Clean Marinas" for being in complance with federal and state regulations and using a high percentage of environmentally responsible practices. The Oregon Clean Marina program is a voluntary program geared twoards marinas, boatyards, yacht clubs, and floating home moorages.
The Oregon Clean Marina program is sponsored by the Oregon State Marine Board and is in partnership with the Oregon Coastal Management Program, the Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership, Oregon State University Extension Service -Sea Grant Program and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.

By educating boaters and improving operations at marine facilities, Oregon ’s Clean Marinas are doing their part to help protect the environment that we all enjoy and depend on.
Other newly certified marinas in the Portland area include:
