Marine Board Approves Grant for Clearwater Park Boat Ramp
For Immediate Release -7/27/11
The Oregon State Marine Board approved a grant to replace the existing boat ramp and expand the parking area at Clearwater Park on the Willamette River for the Willamalane Park and Recreation District, on June 27 at their quarterly meeting held in Sisters, OR.
WPRD applied for, and received a grant to construct a new boat ramp and improve the parking area.  The existing boat ramp will be left to serve as a paddle craft launch.  The new trailered boat launch will be located approximately 200 feet upstream with the reconfiguration of the parking area.   These improvements will make the park more attractive for both motorized and manually powered boaters and reduce congestion.
The Board approved $204,000 in state boater funds combined with $28,160 of in-kind contributions and $204,000 in applicant cash, for a project total of $436,160.
The permits have been obtained and Marine Board Facilities Engineers are finalizing design and engineering for the project.  Construction is anticipated to begin next summer.
The Oregon State Marine Board is funded entirely by user fees, and the revenue generated from the fees goes back to boaters in the form of boating facility improvements, law enforcement services, and education and outreach.
