Warning for Paddlers on the Siltcoos River in Lane County
For Immediate Release -10/13/11
The Dunes City Hall contacted the Lane County Marine Patrol on October 12 to report a large tree about to fall into the Siltcoos River.  The tree is located near the second river bend on river-right of the first boathouse after passing west of the Lake Blvd. Bridge.  The area is heavily used by non-motorized boaters, so the Marine Board urges paddlers to be alert for overhanging trees and to stay clear of this area.
Once the tree falls, it could potentially damage the dock and become a navigation blockage creating a safety hazard to boaters.

*UPDATE: The Lane County Marine Patrol will place warning signage near the leaning tree and will continue to monitor the area.  Boaters are advised to avoid this area of the Siltcoos River.
