Marine Board Meeting February 17 on Proposed Rules for Holgate Channel

The Oregon State Marine Board is conducting a special Board meeting on February 17, from 7-10 p.m. at the Portland Building Auditorium, 1120 SW Fifth Ave, in Portland, to discuss proposed rules for the Holgate Channel.
Board staff will report on public comment received to date on the Holgate Channel proposal.  Staff will offer four rule options for the Board to consider, including:
  • No action;
  • No restrictions but increased enforcement and outreach efforts;
  • A Wake Enhancing Device restriction with a 100’ slow-no-wake zone around Ross Island and East Island, and;
  • A slow-no-wake zone in Holgate Channel from the Ross Island Lagoon mouth to the south end of the Holgate Channel.
The Board will accept written comment and public testimony during the meeting. The public comment period will close at the end of the meeting.
