Fish and Wildlife Division Personnel
The Divisions 119 sworn officers are assigned statewide with specific duties and responsibilities to ensure compliance with natural resource laws.  Two professional staff at General Headquarters supports the entire division.
 
Division assignments (sworn Troopers/Senior Troopers):
  • 69 General fish and wildlife
  • 13 Healthy streams/habitat
  •   7 Commercial fish
  •   4 Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
  •   4 Aircraft pilots
 
ODFW funds approximately 50% of the positions, plus some of the seasonal employment programs.  Other funding sources are:  Lottery funds, General funds, Marine Board funds, Federal funds, and service contracts.

  Captain Markee is the director of the Fish and Wildlife Division, oversees the natural resource law enforcement programs within the State.

  Lieutenant Cleary coordinates the enforcement of wildlife/big game regulations, the division’s compliance reporting process, the seasonal enforcement contracts, the division’s training programs, and supervises the division’s Special Investigations Unit.

  Lieutenant Samuels coordinates the enforcement of commercial fishery regulations, enforcement of sport angling regulations, and oversees the Oregon State Police’s Marine Board activities.  Lieutenant Samuels is the law enforcement representative to the Pacific Fisheries Management Council, chair of law enforcement subcommittee.  Lieutenant Samuels is the representative at the Columbia Basin Law Enforcement Council (CBLEC), an organization of law enforcement agencies that enforce regulations pertaining to fisheries in the Columbia River system.

  Ms. Simonsen manages the administrative workload and paper flow.  She provides direct support to the three sworn members at General Headquarters through preparation of correspondence, reports, statistical data, budget documents, provides oversight of assigned projects and attendance at meetings as a Department representative.  Ms. Simonsen provides indirect support to the remaining sworn members through coordinating reports and providing information as requested.
