Clearinghouse Background Checks
The purpose of the Clearinghouse Unit (CHU) is to conduct fingerprint-based, criminal record background checks on employees and volunteers for a business or organization not governed by a state regulatory or licensing agency. A qualified business or organization must provide care or placement services, or licenses or certifies others to provide care or placement services for children under 18 years of age, elderly persons who are 65 years or older or dependent persons with a physical or mental disability, or medical disability due to alcohol or drug dependence.

Any business or organization interested in requesting a Clearinghouse background check should contact the Background Check Unit of the Oregon Department of Human Services: 1-888-272-5545 or 503-378-5470; mailto:bcu.clearinghouse@state.or.us; or http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/BUSINESS-SERVICES/CHC/Pages/Clearinghouse.aspx.
