OSP Traffic Stop Leads to Over 3 lbs. of Marijuana, One Arrest west of Burns

An Oregon State Police traffic stop Tuesday evening on Highway 20 near Riley in eastern Oregon led to the arrest of a Boise, Idaho resident after more than 3 pounds of marijuana was found in vehicle he was driving. Two passengers were cited for being in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
 
On April 28, 2009 at 6:34 p.m. an OSP sergeant stopped a blue Subaru for a vehicle license violation eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 107. Subsequent to the traffic stop a strong odor of marijuana was detected and when asked, the driver admitted to possessing over a pound of marijuana. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 3 1/2 lbs. of marijuana and other evidence. Estimated value of the seized marijuana was approximately $9,000.
 
The car's driver, STEVEN ANDREW MEYER, age 20, from Boise, Idaho was arrested and lodged in the Harney County Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana.
 
Two male passengers, ages 19 and 20, from Boise, were cited for Unlawful Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana.
 
The Harney County Sheriff's Office assisted during the stop.
