| Death Investigation - Interstate 5 northbound Santiam Rest Area | ||

Lieutenant Gregg Hastings Public Information Officer (503) 731-3020 ext. 247 Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the death of a Jefferson-area woman found Thursday afternoon in her car at the northbound Interstate 5 Santiam Rest Area deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to OSP Lieutenant Eric Altman, on October 14, 2010 at approximately 5:00 p.m. OSP was notified by a relative after a note was found indicating the 67-year old woman was going to the northbound Interstate 5 Santiam Rest Area north of Jefferson to commit suicide. OSP troopers responded to the rest area to try and find the woman before she took her life, but at about 5:30 p.m. they found her deceased inside her car. OSP troopers from the Salem Area Command office are completing the investigation with the assistance of the Marion County medical examiner. ### www.oregon.gov/OSP ###
