Oregon State Police - Portland
Office: (503) 731-3020 ext. 267

A 21-year old male died Thursday evening at a Portland-area hospital after he was struck on an ATV when he pulled onto Highway 224 from his private driveway and was struck by a sport utility vehicle east of Barton.

On November 29, 2007 at approximately 6:25 p.m. DMITRY KRAVETZ, age 21, from Boring, was operating a 2007 Suzuki Quad Racer ATV on his private driveway in the 29000 block of Highway 224 near milepost 16 when he pulled onto the highway and spun around the change directions in the eastbound lane in front of a U.S. Forest Service 2005 Ford Expedition driven by TREVOR HULSE, age 38, from Estacada. HULSE attempted to stop to avoid the ATV but crashed into the right side of it.

KRAVETZ was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital where he died that evening.

HULSE was not injured. He was using safety restraints and the vehicle's airbag deployed.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Boring Fire Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene.

Highway 224 was closed until about 10:00 p.m.
