Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers arrested a Madras man this afternoon following a Jefferson County Grand Jury indictment related to a July 2006 fatal traffic crash on Highway 26 northwest of Madras.
On December 2, 2006 at about 3:17 p.m., OSP Trooper John Russo and Recruit Scott Sogge arrested RODRIGO REYNOSO PINEDA, age 24, from Madras, at his residence. The arrest followed an OSP investigation into a fatal traffic crash that occurred on July 27, 2006, at approximately 3:31 p.m., when RODRIGO PINEDA was operating a 1999 Honda Prelude on Highway 26 approximately 13 miles northwest of Madras. PINEDA lost control of his car and collided head on with a 1997 Silver Dodge Caravan.
PINEDA's passenger, GERARDO ROBLES-ARRELO, age 20, died at the scene.
OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command office, with the assistance of crash reconstructionist Senior Trooper Joseph Craig, investigated the crash.
On November 30, 2006, Peter Duel, Jefferson County District Attorney, presented the case to the Jefferson County Grand Jury and obtained an indictment.
RODRIGO PINEDA was taken into custody and lodged at the Jefferson County Jail for Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving, DUII, and two counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree.
The news release related to the fatal traffic crash can be found on this website dated July 28, 2006.
