Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is continuing the investigation into the illegal taking and waste of five deer in the Grant County area during November.

On November 28, 2007 OSP Fish and Wildlife troopers from the John Day work site responded to a report of five deer, 3 bucks and 2 does, that had been shot. The deer were left to waste with only the horns removed off of three of the bucks.

The investigation revealed that the deer had been shot over a period of several days and the person(s) responsible had trespassed onto private land to poach the deer. Horns from the 3 bucks were recovered in addition several weapons being seized in conjunction with the case.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call OSP Trooper Marv Ritter at (541) 575-1363.
