Oregon State Police troopers, assisted by a multi-agency team, investigated a fatal crash late Saturday afternoon in which a Lebanon-area man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 20 between Lebanon and Sweet Home.

On December 16, 2006, at approximately 5:05 p.m., GLEN DELL ROLES JR., age 49, from Lebanon, was struck by a westbound 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier as he was walking on Highway 20 near milepost 20. ROLES was deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Cavalier, HEATHER ELAINE PECKFELDER, age 31, of Lebanon, was not injured.

Preliminary investigation indicates ROLES was pushing a bicycle across the roadway and was struck in the westbound right hand traffic lane. A dog which was accompanying ROLES was deceased at the scene as well.

Traffic was restricted to one lane in each direction during the investigation. The highway was completely reopened at 9:00 p.m.

The Oregon State Police Albany Area Command is continuing the investigation. Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of the Linn County Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Albany Police Department, and Lebanon Police Department. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.
