The new Intoxilyzer 8000 Breath Testing equipment is being installed this week at multiple locations in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Wheeler and Gilliam County locations. The new equipment is replacing the Intoxilyzer 5000 models that have been in use for over twelve years. Intallation in other areas of the State is continuing to be phased in over the coming months.
Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division is installing nearly 130 Intoxilyzer 8000 Breath Testing equipment units, adding new equipment at 25 new locations in the State. The additional units will help make the breath testing equipment more readily available in many areas.
On December 19 and 20, 2006, the Forensic Services Division replaced all Intoxilyzer 5000 instrumentation in the above listed counties with new Intoxilyzer 8000 equipment at the following locations:
Hood River County Sheriff's Office
Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR)
Wasco County Sheriff's Office - Maupin
Sherman County Jail
Oregon State Police - Arlington
Gilliam County Jail
Wheeler County Jail
Training for around 3,500 police officers around the State is being provided for certification to use the Intoxilyzer Model 8000 breath-testing instrument.
