Oregon State Police and the Lane County Medical Examiner have positively identified the person found deceased Saturday morning, December 16th, after a body washed onto Baker Beach about five miles north of Florence.
Following an autopsy conducted by the Lane County Medical Examiner, the person has been identified as DANIEL BRIAN KELLEY, age 38, from North Bend. Positive identification was made using medical and dental records.
According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, KELLEY was one of two men reported to be on board a single engine aircraft that crashed near Horsfall Beach on December 2nd. The body of the other plane occupant, CHARLES HOLLOWAY, age 62, from Coos Bay, was found December 7th during a beach search about four miles south of the crash site. Parts of the aircraft continue to wash ashore.
KELLEY's body was about 40 miles north of the crash site where it was found by a beachcomber on December 16, 2006 at about 10:30 a.m.. Oregon State Police and local emergency personnel responded, and an Oregon State Police detective was assigned to continue the investigation and assist the Medical Examiner in the attempt to identify the person.
