The Patrol Division Aircraft is an effective tool for apprehending aggressive drivers, enforcing speed laws, following to close violations, as well as other hazardous violations and seeking out stranded motorists. The aircraft has also been utilized by the Fish and Wildlife Division to fly missions when their aircraft are not available and by the Criminal Division for aerial photographs during its investigations. The aircraft supports all divisions including SWAT, MRT, and has provided a unique perspective for all law enforcement partners. It has been used to transport OSP Administration Staff, District Attorneys, Judges, Legislators, and other public officials during the course of their duties. The unit consists of one Cessna 206 station air fixed wing aircraft and one aircraft pilot. As of May 1, 2007, Senior Trooper Erich Schermerhorn transferred from the Oakridge Worksite to Salem General Headquarters to accept the pilot position for the Patrol Services Division.
