(Use of the aircraft in targeting hazardous violations)
The Patrol Division Aircraft is an effective tool for apprehending aggressive drivers, enforcing speed laws, following too close violations, as well as other hazardous violations and seeking out stranded motorists. The aircraft has also been utilized by the Fish and Wildlife Division to fly missions when their aircraft is not available and by the Criminal Division for aerial photographs during its investigations. The aircraft supports all divisions including SWAT, MRT, and has provided a unique perspective for all law enforcement partners. It has been used to transport OSP Administration Staff, District Attorneys, Judges, Legislators, and other public officials during the course of their duties. The unit consists of one Cessna 206 station air fixed wing aircraft and one aircraft pilot. As of this fall, Senior Trooper DeWayne Price transferred from the Fish & Wildlife Division to the Patrol Division in Central Point to accept the pilot position for the Patrol Services Division. In 2006, the following mission types were flown by the Patrol Division Aircraft Program; Patrol Saturation Flights, Division I-A Football Game Flights (Providing an airborne perspective for Ground Support Troopers), Fish and Wildlife Division missions, Drug Enforcement Section missions, ODFW census missions, Emergency Relays, Training Flights.
