The push-ups and sit-ups portions of the
physical testing usually eliminates around
half of the applicants that show up for
Entry Level Testing.
Being able to do the minimum requirements is usually not enough for applicants who attend this stressful and highly competitive selection process.

Being physically fit is not enough for this career. Recruits must be mentally sharp, able to reason through problems, and think on their feet. The high school equivalency written test is the first measure of this ability.

In order to complete the initial application process you will need to submit an application. Applicants must have an email address in order to be in constant communication throughout the selection process. Notices will be sent via email regarding testing dates, application status, and other important information.

Applicants must confirm their attendance prior to testing. Test confirmation notices will be email to qualified applicants. Confirmation must be received prior to specified date.

Entry Level Testing is comprised of four portions:
Portion #1 - Physical Fitness Test. This portion of our process includes the push-ups, sit-ups, and two mile run.
Portion #2 - Written Test. The written test is a 12th grade equivalency test that covers math, spelling, reading comprehension, and vocabulary.
Portion #3 - Panel Interview. Each successful applicant will participate in a brief panel interview.
Portion #4 - Suitability Screening. Applicants will be given a series of psychological tests to determine overall suitability for a career in law enforcement.
Applicants must pass each portion to proceed to the next one.

- The physical abilities test is based on the U.S. Army standards (see scoring standards listed below) in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 181.260.
- If an applicant fails any portion of this test, the testing will be discontinued.
- Statistically, half of our applicants fail this portion of our selection process. Be sure to not just train to meet these standards, but train to exceed these standards.
- To review the proper methods for the physical abilities test, please review the Physical Abilities Test Standards.
