Fire Department/District Identification (FDID)
The Office of State Fire Marshal issues Fire Department Identification (FDID) numbers for the purpose of recognition and incident reporting. All recognized fire departments and districts personnel, by virtue of the offices they hold (listed in ORS 476.060) are statutorily assistants to the State Fire Marshal.

Several issues relating to the statuatory authority of private corporations acting as "fire departments" were raised and answered in an Attorney General (AG) Opinion.
