This Limited Duration position is with the Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon. This limited duration assignment is due to end September 30, 2010.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future openings.
Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.
These positions are represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Union members pay union dues; non-union members pay "fair share."
Prior to being offered a position, finalists must pass a fingerprint-based security/criminal record background check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered on a case by case basis.
AGENCY OVERVIEW
We are the provider of Premier Public Safety Services for Oregon each and every day. Our mission is to enhance the livability and safety for the State of Oregon by protecting the people, property, and natural resources of the State. The OSP workforce is comprised of more than 1,300 sworn and professional staff in the areas of patrol, criminal investigation, forensic services, medical examiner, state fire marshal, gaming regulation, fish and wildlife regulation, public safety communications, and information management with a biennial budget of approximately $325 million total funds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the LEDS Training Manager in developing training materials and aids for the Brady Indicator, Pre Trial Release No Contact Orders and Protection Orders.
Schedule onsite training sessions with each of the 36 county courts, sheriff and jails. Arrange for training rooms and equipment.
Conduct onsite training sessions with each of the 36 county courts, sheriff and jails to explain the procedures required for accurate and timely entry into LEDS/NCIC.
Work with the VAWA Grant Project Coordinator to identify non-compliance issues and assist in creating audit benchmarks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires frequent travel throughout the state and possibly occasional out of state travel. This position is subject to extended hours of work to complete special projects or training related issues.
Federal, state and local political and organizational relationships can create a challenging environment.
TO QUALIFY

Three years experience reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting information, rules, and policy; or three years experience as a trainer or work experience that included presenting information to groups.
OR;
possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Organizational Psychology, Business or Public Administration, Training and Development, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources or related field.
