By statute, the Board consists of eight members appointed by the Governor for a term of four years. Members customarily serve two terms. The Governor may select appointments suggested by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA). Five members must be veterinarians licensed in Oregon to practice veterinary medicine, surgery and dentistry. One member must be a certified veterinary technician practicing in Oregon. Two members are citizens representing veterinary consumers. All appointments of members to the Board made by the Governor are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
