Water Conservation, Reuse and Storage Grant Program

The Water Conservation, Re-use and Storage Grant Program, established by Senate Bill 1069 (2008), is designed to fund the qualifying costs of planning studies, up to $500,000 per project, that evaluate the feasibility of developing water conservation, re-use or storage projects.  The 2011 Legislature has approved continuation of this grant program for the 2011-13 biennium.  To see the 23 applications received by the Department and the Department’s inter-agency review team recommendations for funding click here

Interested parties are reminded that the 30 day public comment period for the 2011 Water Conservation, Reuse and Storage Grant Program which opened on February 14, 2012, closes on March 15, 2012.

The Department published a list of feasibility study grant applications on February 14th that a multi-agency review team is recommending for funding.  The listing does not constitute a funding commitment; public comment must first be considered prior to a final decision by the Water Resources Commission at its April 2012 meeting.  Funding levels are dependent on the issuance of Lottery-backed Bonds, scheduled for May, 2012.  Release of funds will not occur until a negotiated grant agreement is signed.

Oregon Water Supply and Conservation Initiative

The Oregon Water Resources Department (the Department) recognizes that water resources needs in Oregon are many, while our resources are finite. The Oregon Water Supply and Conservation Initiative gives the Department an opportunity to take a bird’s eye view of water demands and water availability throughout the state, and to strategically develop the tools, methodologies, and budgets required to ensure that those who need water—both in-stream and out-of-stream—will have access to the resource for generations to come.

Department Water Conservation Programs and Information

The Department has several programs and efforts to assist with water conservation.  These include planning tools and resources, modifications to water rights, information about watershed restoration and instream activities.
