Purposes and Outcomes

Purpose:  SB 839 directs the Governor to appoint a task force to develop a recommended methodology for determining seasonally varying flows that optimize functional benefits, while considering that benefits will not occur unless new water storage projects are financially feasible and that such projects might not be appropriate or feasible in many locations.

Outcome:  The task force must submit its report to the Governor, Legislature and Water Resources Commission, and the Water Resources Commission must subsequently adopt rules to establish the seasonally varying flows methodology.
