OYA recognizes the importance of interaction between youth in its custody and family and members of the community. Such access allows youth to maintain positive relationships that can help with their rehabilitation and contribute to effective planning for their treatment needs.

  • Wednesdays from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.; advance notice of visits is preferred.

  • Special visits, outside of regular visitation schedules, may be arranged through the Treatment Manager.

  • Visitation is supervised by OYA staff.

  • OYA staff will inform visitors of applicable rules, policies, and procedures relating to visitation prior to entry into the facility.

  • Staff will consider all requests for visitation and allow or deny the visit on the basis of what would best benefit the offender, within the interests of facility security and order.

  • Visitation is limited to those persons who are integral to the offender´s case plan (e.g., family members, offender´s attorney, and persons involved in the offender´s treatment).
All visitors must get approval from the facility and their youth's unit managers, using this Request to Visit form.

Testing Water for Lead

Starting in February 2017, the Oregon Youth Authority began testing the water outlets at all of our facilities for lead and copper. Lead can be harmful to people's health, and we wanted to make sure all youth, staff, contractors, volunteers, and visitors are safe and healthy.

At Tillamook YCF, initial tests found two outlets with levels of lead and zero outlets with levels of copper that were above the level where we take immediate action. We removed or replaced the two outlets in question, and additional tests showed they are now below the action level for lead. Our remediation work at this facility is complete.
