PREA in the Juvenile Justice System

NEWS DISCUSSIONS RESOURCES CONNECTIONS

Welcome to the National PREA Resource Workgroup (NPR-WORK) - TWELVE STATES AND GROWING

Cooperation, Collaboration and a Combination of ideas, materials, policies, training, about all things PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) comprise this workgroup.

The idea started when Oregon received a call from New York, and now NPR-WORK consists of representatives from twelve states, including directors, training coordinators, PREA coordinators, corrections officers, also professionals in the medical and mental health field, a survivor of prison sexual assault, and with attention and encouragement from national corrections organizations.  Members include juvenile justice, adult corrections, jails, detention facilities, and community corrections, with state, county and local representation.

The goal of this group is to facilitate zero-tolerance for sexual abuse in all areas of corrections throughout the nation.  Our mission is to share information, training, safety materials, assessments, knowledge, videos, tracking systems, SART information, training opportunities, resources, program development plans, and all things PREA with each other and others in the field in order to attain our goal of zero-tolerance.

Additionally, to facilitate ongoing conversation, questions, and brainstorming, members can join and participate in the National PREA Resource Workgroup Forum hosted by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC).

This site is hosted by the Oregon Youth Authority as a resource for our national partners.
