PERS will mail membership kits in June and July 2008 to members with contribution start dates of April and May 2008, respectively. The membership kit introduces PERS and its benefits and asks the member to validate demographic data, such as name and address. Changes in demographic data are provided to PERS employers.
The mailing list will include members who:
1) Have the contribution start date (membership date) used for the membership kit mailing date,
2) Have 600 hours service in the current calendar year, and
3) Have contributions reported in the two-month period between the applicable membership date and mailing date.
The mailing list WILL NOT be sent to individual employers. Employers can find those members with an April or May 2008 contribution start date using this procedure:
1)Logon to EDX and select the View Year-to-date Wage and Contribution Summary link in the site navigation area.
2)Choose the year you wish to view. When the summary data appears,
3)Choose Download as CSV from the options at the top of the page.
4)Choose the Open or Save option for the downloaded file. Then,
5)Open the file, highlight the first line, then click on Data in the toolbar and select Auto filter.
6)In Column E (Contribution Start Dates), click on the down arrow and select the membership date you wish to list.
PERS will not remove members from the mailing list. To remove members from the mailing list, employers should REMOVE CONTRIBUTIONS for all records between a contribution start date and it's mailing date. To add members to the mailing list, employers should INCLUDE CONTRIBUTIONS in records between a contribution start date and it's mailing date.
Employers should contact their Employer Service Center (ESC) account representative to verify or to have an incorrect contribution start date reset.
A permanent membership kit mailing frequency will be determined pending evaluation of the June and July mailings, and employer feedback
