A new member has recently been appointed to the Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacist Ken Wells of Eugene was appointed by Governor Kulongoski and was confirmed by the Oregon Senate on June 23, 2009. He attended his first Board meeting as a member on July 1.
Ken is currently employed with Safeway Inc, as a regional pharmacy manager, responsible for stores in Southern and Central Oregon. He attended North Eugene High School, graduating in 1967, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Oregon State University in 1972.
Prior to joining Safeway in July 1997, he was employed by Pay Less Drug Stores NW, from 1972 to June 1997. He is a member the Oregon State Pharmacy Association (OSPA), having served as a board member, and as President from 2008-2009. Ken is optimistic on his appointment to the Board, and enthusiastic about the challenges ahead.
Ken was appointed to replace outgoing Board member, Pharmacist Cathryn Lew, who leaves after completing her second and final four year term on the Board. Cathy remains on the NABP Executive Committee as the District VII Committee Member until May of 2012. She was re-elected to the position for her second term at the NABP Annual Meeting and Conference in Miami in May of 2009.
