Mission Statement
The Mission of the Oregon Racing Commission is to regulate and to facilitate all aspects of the pari-mutuel industry in the State of Oregon for the benefit of the citizenry, the licensees, the participants, and the economy of the State of Oregon.

About the Commission: The Oregon Racing Commission was established in 1933 as part of the Pari-Mutuel Wagering Act. The agency regulates all aspects of the pari-mutuel industry in Oregon. The commission currently regulates all horse racing where pari-mutuel wagering is conducted. Regulation occurs both on track and at off-track wagering facilities and covers all aspects of the operation. In addition, the commission regulates multi-jurisdictional hubs (currently ten) located in the state. Proceeds from pari-mutuel racing not used for the commission's operation are transferred to the state general fund. The executive director, supervisor of horse racing, supervisor of pari-mutuels, chief of investigations and other officials appointed by the commission currently administer six horse pari-mutuel race meets which are conducted annually at various locations throughout the state. Members of the commission are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the senate.
