UPCOMING MEETINGS: On Thursday, November 19, 2009, the commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at the Portland State Office Building located at 800 NE Oregon Street, in Portland, Oregon. Executive Session will begin at 12:30 pm and the Public Session will begin at 1:30 pm.

DECEMBER: On December 17, 2009, at 1:30 pm, the commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at the Portland State Office Building.

Mission
The Mission of the Oregon Racing Commission is to regulate and to facilitate all aspects of the pari-mutuel industry in the State of Oregon for the benefit of the citizenry, the licensees, the participants and the State of Oregon.

The Oregon Racing Commission was established in 1933 as part of the Pari-Mutuel Wagering Act and has the authority to regulate horse and greyhound racing in the State of Oregon.

The Oregon Lottery and casino gambling are regulated by other agencies.

ORC Office Closure on November 27, 2009
Due to state budget cuts, the Oregon Racing Commission offices will be closed on Friday, November 27, 2009. The employees will be observing a mandatory unpaid furlough day.

The offices will reopen on Monday, November 30th.
