  • The Oregon public safety community is working to improve wireless communications
Bosley Butte Communications Site, Curry County
Saving lives and protecting the public during a disaster, or during any day of the year, depends upon reliable communication systems that allow public safety officers and other emergency officials to talk to one another. Not only does new digital communication technology offer us the ability to protect lives, over the long-term it can reduce - and help avoid - costs of operating public safety agencies.

The Oregon State Interoperability Executive Council is working to develop policy and guideline recommendations, identify technology standards, and coordinate intergovernmental resources to facilitate statewide wireless communications interoperability with emphasis on public safety.
  • The Oregon eFOG application is now available for your smart phone device

In conjunction with the SIEC, Steve Noel, statewide interoperability coordinator and contracted staff from SAIC, Inc. have converted the state's Tactical Interoperable Communications Field Operations Guide into an electronic version available through the AppleTM App Store and AndroidTM  Market for free download.

While in the app store, search "Oregon eFOG" and click on the FREE button.

Be sure to download the Oregon eFOG Users Guide, as well.

  • Oregon has received its technical assistance offerings for 2013

    The annual
State Interoperable Communication Plan Update Workshop will take place April 2 - 3, 2013. The workshop provides an opportunity to update the statewide plan and account for changes to state or regional goals for the upcoming year. Previous SCIP materials are available for review on the Interoperable Communications page.

With support from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, the first training event of 2013 will be a Communication Unit Leader training session scheduled for May 7 - 9, 2013. This course is designed for emergency responders to familiarize themselves with roles and responsibilities of a COML and provide a hands-on scenario for trainees to test their skills.
