Chair
Susan Castner - Portland 
Sue Castner is a political activist with years of experience working with elected officials from across the country including President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator Ron Wyden, and a myriad of others. Sue’s diverse background includes handling international media on events such as the first US Environmental Film Festival and the World Cycling Championships, surrogate scheduling for a Super Bowl and a Presidential Debate, and communications, advertising, and marketing for commercial real estate properties.  Sue currently serves on the board of Emerge Oregon, a dynamic organization training Democratic women to run for public office.  Sue is also working on organizing the Oregon Women Suffrage Centennial Celebration which will take place throughout 2012.  She has long been an advocate for a wide variety of women’s issues, once making law as a plaintiff in a Title VII sex discrimination case.
 
In what little spare time she has, Sue enjoys scuba diving at remote sites far and wide with her husband, Mark Kaltenbach. 

Vice Chair
Nena Cook - Portland
Nena Cook is a trial attorney with nearly twenty years of experience specializing in complex business disputes, commercial torts and professional liability defense.  Nena is a frequent speaker and writer on the topics of professionalism, ethics and employment law.  Nena has received accolades from colleagues as well as business and legal publications, among them, Portland Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40,” one of Willamette Week’s 50 most influential women in Portland, and was voted “Best of the Bar” by Portland area lawyers.
 
Nena enjoys all things outdoors and spends her spare time volunteering at her sons’ school. 

Commissioners
Donna Harris - Portland
Donna Harris is the proud mother of two sons, Brandon and Jacob. Donna works full-time at Portland State University and is a full-time student in the master’s program in Conflict Resolution at PSU.  Her goals through her education and her services on the OCFW commission are to find ways to help other disadvantaged women rise up out of disparity and poverty to achieve their dreams and goals.
 
In addition to OCFW, Donna has served on the Portland State University President’s Commission on the Status of Women since 2005, which works to provide equity to women on campus.  As a student, Donna has been involved in various student government positions on campuses across Oregon and Washington. Donna was the Executive Director of the Community Colleges of Oregon Student Associations and Commissions. She has been a McNair Scholar, a Diversity Scholarship winner and most recently was selected by Portland State University with the 2009 President's Award for Outstanding University Service. 
 
Megan Jacquot - Coos Bay
Megan Jacquot is a mother and attorney who works with primarily disadvantaged populations in Coos and Curry County, Oregon, and the Oregon Court of Appeals.  She is dedicated to improving the situations of women and children through advocacy work at all levels of government.  Ms. Jacquot concurrently serves on the North Bend School District Board of Directors.  She enjoys camping and fishing with her family and has served on the Commission for Women since September 2007.

Oregon Legislative Assembly Representatives
Senator Martha Schrader, D - Canby, District 20
Martha Schrader was appointed to the Oregon State Senate as the Senator for District 20 in 2009. Prior to her appointment, Senator Schrader served as a Clackamas County Commissioner from 2003 to 2009, serving as Board Chair in 2004 and 2007. [read full bio]
 
Representative Kim Thatcher, R - Salem, District 25
Kim Thatcher was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2005, serving Keizer, Newberg and St. Paul. She has served on House Committees for Education, Business and Labor, Sustainability and Economic Developmeent, Government Accountability and Elections, Ethics and Rules Committee. Representative Thatcher has four children, owns two transportation contracting businesses and is a certified pilot. The Representative has been a member of the Commission for Women since 2005.
