Crescent Lake (5S2)
A strip of land 500 feet by 4,000 feet (approximately 46 acres) was obtained by use permit from the U.S. Forest Service in September 1951. Clearing of trees was accomplished in the fall of 1951 and spring of 1952 with the runway graded in the summer of 1952. In 1954 the aircraft parking apron and a portion of the runway was paved. In the summer of 1956 an additional 1,300 feet of the runway was surfaced. The runway is presently 30’ in width and 3,900 in length with an asphalt surface. There are no facilities.
Crescent Lake State Airport was constructed in 1952 by the Board of Aeronautics, though the property is not owned by the State. A use permit has been granted to the State for use of the property as an airport. The airport is located west of State Route 58, south of Odell Lake in Klamath County. The airport is located within the Deschutes National Forest.
The airport plays a supportive role in the current system, providing access to the surrounding recreational areas, including the Deschutes National Forest, and several large lakes and mountain areas. As such, Crescent Lake State Airport is designated as a Level 4 supportive airport.
