Codes and standards

The division works with building officials, technical committees, advisory boards, and the public to adopt, amend, and interpret the Oregon Elevator Specialty Code. This code applies to the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of elevators to be operated in this state.

2011 Oregon Elevator Specialty Code
Effective January 1, 2012

This code consists of the following:

  • 2010 ASME A17.1, Elevator/Escalator
  • 2010 ASME A17.2, Inspector manual
  • 2010 ASME A17.6, Suspension, compensation, etc.
  • 2008 ASME A18.1, Platform lifts and chairlifts
  • 2009 ASME 90.1, Belt man lifts
